We have today once again managed to successfully book the big barn in Sacrewell Farm & Country Park as we have for the past few years and so we will be running the Peterborough Model railway Exhibition on 6th June 2010.
Last year we we were really squeezed for space and so this years event will take place utilising the whole of the big barn and if demand warrants it, the adjacent conference centre as well. Our intention is to at the very least double the size of the show. This year for the first time we intend to invite exhibitors and traders involved in the larger Garden Railway scales. We already [July 2009] have some Garden Railway devotees, both exhibitors and traders booked to attend. Live steam locos will definitely be running in the barn this year.
Traders can be on site at 6.30am to set up and the early birds will be able to drive their vehicles into the barn to unload directly onto stands etc. Public entry is from 10.00am and the show will close at 4.00pm sharp.
Entry fees are £4.00 for adults and £3.00 for concessions and children. Once again this year we will have a small Thomas layout in operation where the children can drive the model trains. The venue is easily accessible from the adjacent free car park and the exhibition is very wheelchair friendly, with level access to and from the building to toilet, gift shop and excellent catering facilities.
The entrance to Sacrewell Farm Country Park is located several hundred yards from the A1/A47 junction on the left of the A47 heading toward Peterborough. It is very well marked and is a popular centre for family days out in the fresh air. Home to the Shire Horse Stud and boasting a nicely preserved water mill there is plenty to do on site. Further site details can be found here. A limited number of caravan pitches are available [CC CL] and early booking is advisable. The address is Sacrewell Farm Country park, Thornhaugh, Peterborough PE8 6HJ.
