Kay Earnshaw was for some years our Publicity Officer and Exhibition Manager. Until quite recently Kay made and restored all of our expanding range of model trees and spent a great deal of her time refurbishing and replacing our extensive baseboard scenery. Our pictures on the site here don't really do adequate justice to her workmanship. Kay was for some years the mainstay of the modelling group by ensuring that none of us actually starved or became dehydrated. Domestic pressures have recently severely limited her input to the group.
Graham Sharman. Graham spent almost all of his free time either working on the various model railway layouts or on the larger twelve inch to the foot versions. He also works full time on the mainline rail network as do several of our other members. Graham has built the beautifully detailed scale model of Eaton Socon Church and rather impressive models of a manor house, and the Parish Inn, both of which when completed will be situated on one of the new layouts currently under construction.
Roy Holt our Chairman. Retired [but one wouldn't think so sometimes]. Licensed Radio Amateur G6OLS. Recently moved back into model rail from steam powered model boats. Home layout German outline N-Gauge. Specific model railway interests DCC G-Scale and live steam. Currently responsible for the group web pages and assisting with the NVMRA layouts, both operation and general maintenance. Currently constructing a "G-Gauge" layout in the garden.
Phil Arbetier. Our regular 'tin Basher', Phil is busily engaged in recovering and refurbishing all sorts of elderly rolling stock. When not involved with the model railway, Phil is currently engaged in building a Gauge-1 steam powered locomotive or two after spending most of the last winter - when weather permitted, working with Roy and John building the G-Gauge railway at Railworld. He is another of us who, now retired, wonders how he ever found the time to go to work.
Jan Holt. Retired. Licensed Radio Amateur 2E1DFR. Main interest electronics and greetings card design and manufacturer on a hobby basis. For some time assisted us all with NVMRA locomotive fleet maintenance and rolling stock modifications. Jan enjoys working on N-gauge landscaping and small scale modelling. Currently engaged in building an N-gauge fairground.
Jo Arbeiters is our Treasurer. Jo is currently working with Jan on an N-Gauge layout donated to our society Jo and Jan worked extremely hard at Railworld, landscape gardening around and beneath the raised Railworld G-Gauge layout. Jo also enjoys gardening at home and so is quite the busy bee at certain times of the year.
John Crane. John is retired but spends a great deal of his time working on matters related to N-gauge. John worked extremely hard during the winter months assisting Roy and Phil in constructing the Railworld G-Gauge railway in an effort to ensure that it was fully operational at Easter. It was! We have since severed any connection with Railworld.
Brian Norris. Brian joined us in late 2008, just in time to help dismantle things at Railworld, not quite what he was expecting! A semi retired ex teacher, banker and IT trainer, he readily admits to knowing little about the real thing but just enjoys 'playing trains'. Currently building his own OO layout and Gauge 1 steam loco at home, he is also a member of G1MRA and MERG. His reason for joing the club? "A very friendly group of people who will hopefully be able to teach me a lot."
Other members of our Model Railway Group who work on mainline services include a fireman or two, several drivers, and Network Rail staff, so we are by no means short of advice concerning prototypical working practices.
